CHENNAI: A DMK official was murdered in Madipakkam on Tuesday evening. The man, identified as Selvam (46) (full name not available), was the secretary of DMK’s 186th unit.
Selvam was reportedly axed to death by a gang outside his residence in Madipakkam in public view around 9:30 p.m. The gang fled after the attack. Selvam died on the spot. Police officials are tight-lipped about the incident.
Madipakkam Police have registered a case and are carrying out an investigation to track down the attackers and find the motive for the horrific murder.
Selvam is the second local DMK official to be murdered this week. In Tirunelveli, Ponnudas (38) was killed on Sunday. He was hit by a car, then the people in the car got out and attacked him with weapons. Ponnudas died on the spot.
Man arrested for uttering death threats
Chennai: A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly threatening the leader of a self-help group (SHG) with death. He had also sent obscene text messages to the woman, police said. The man identified as Ravindar Mandal is said to have made death threats against the woman for asking for 40,000` which was lent by SHG to a woman. When the SHG leader demanded the money back from the woman, Ravindar Mandal, claiming to be the woman’s relative, made death threats and sent obscene text messages. ENS
