Florida-based solar farm developer esaSolar is partnering with Lenawee Now to offer a new Community Development Grant Fund for local programs and organizations with a mission to foster growth and momentum in the Village and Township of Blissfield, according to a press release from esaSolar.
EsaSolar had planned a solar farm project in Deerfield Township, but it was scrapped about a year and a half ago because it didn’t meet zoning requirements. The company now looks to the townships of Blissfield and Palmyra for its farms. The townships of Blissfield and Palmyra are in the process of creating solar ordinances that would regulate the construction and operation of solar farms in their respective jurisdictions.
Lenawee Now and esaSolar are encouraging local entrepreneurs, educators, and changemakers to apply for program funding by March 30. The total grant of $10,000 will be awarded to a number of eligible projects and organizations with the winning projects to be announced on Earth Day, Friday. , April 22.
The new Township/Village of Blissfield Community Grant Funding Project is specifically seeking projects and groups that work to improve:
- Community revitalization.
- Economic development.
- Celebration of agricultural heritage.
- Foster environmental sustainability.
- Support STEM education.
“The first few months of the year are an exciting time to imagine and plan new community projects, which aim to create a better quality of life for the future of our communities,” said Matt Drennan, lead developer for esaSolar, in the press release. “We look forward to working alongside our community partners in the Township and Village of Blissfield to support winning grant programs for 2022!”
