Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Tripura on Friday and inaugurate a series of projects and hold meetings with state government officials.
She will be in Tripura until tomorrow and return to Delhi in the second half of Saturday, according to the PTI news agency citing sources at the Chief Minister’s (CMO) office.
On the first day, the Union Minister of Finance is expected to inaugurate up to 11 projects worth 151 crore.
She is expected to go to a Covid vaccination center in Gandhigram.
On the second day, Sitharaman will offer prayers at the Tripurasundari temple in Udaipur and hold meetings with members of a local self-help group in the district, the CMO official said.
This will be his first visit to the state since the BJP-IPFT alliance came to power in March 2018.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Niti Aayog released the North East Region (NER) District SDG Index 2021-22 report in which Tripura and Sikkim were in the Front Runner category.
The report showed that the eight districts of Tripura and the four of Sikkim scored between 65 and 99 on a scale of 100, indicating the overall score for different welfare goals.
East Sikkim reached the top in terms of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the Niti Aayog NER District 2021-22 SDG Index Report with a score of 75.87, and North Tripura with a score of 75 , 73.
The report, released by NITI Aayog and the Northeast Region Development Ministry, tracks 84 indicators covering 15 global goals such as zero poverty, quality education and the achievement of gender equality by 2030. These targets were adopted by India in 2015.
