Victories for the AFC and Equity at the official opening of the matches

Reigning women’s netball champions Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) demolished NCBA Bank 32-2 at the current Kenya Institute of Bankers Interbank Sports which was officially opened in Nairobi yesterday.

Netball matches held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies also saw last season’s finalists Equity Bank beat Post Bank 17-11 as KCB Bank edged out Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) 13-10.

“We are here to keep the cup,” said AFC goalkeeper Florence Akinyi.

In football, Patrick Baraza scored a brace in the 46th and 52nd minutes as CBK overtook DT Dobie with a 3-0 win.

Stephen Owino was the first to open the winners’ scoresheet in the 30th minute.

In men’s volleyball, CBK stunned Post Bank in straight sets 2-0.

The National Bank of Kenya (NBK) has also encountered the same wrath against the Housing Finance Corporation.

Co-Op Bank also won 2-0 against NCBA, as did the University of Nairobi Business School, which beat Bank of Africa (BOA) by a similar margin.

In basketball, Equity beat NBK 47-24 while KCB beat State Bank of Mauritius (SMB) 32-5.

In other men’s basketball results, NCBA defeated Victoria Commercial Bank 42-29 while I&M Bank battled Post Bank.

In women’s basketball, KCB Bank picked a win over BOA that didn’t show up, I&M Bank won 40-13 over CBK, NCBA edged Post Bank 15-10 while Equity beat Absa 48- 15. [Ochieng Oyugi]
